We are Ithaca House, a new experiment in local DIY arts community. We’re a collective of bookmakers, poets, and musicians hoping to eventually create a community arts center and nonprofit retail space for small press books, zines, ephemera, and other weird artsy stuff.

In addition to selling books and wares, we’ll offer sliding scale classes and guerrilla performances by local musicians and writers. Our dream is to serve as a hub for Ithaca’s punks, poets, freaks, and weirdos——and more specifically, to create a bridge between Ithaca’s literary arts communities and its DIY music/maker scenes. Ithaca House takes its name from an excellent small press that operated in Ithaca from 1969-1984 (and maintained a storefront/gallery), and we hope to carry on their genius vision of local arts community.

PAST EVENTS

Our first event is our D.I.Y Flea Market on August 5! The space is still very much in-progress (like, VERY in-progress) but we’re hoping to get some folks together to table and sell their wares. If you make zines, art, books, comics, or whatever, and you’re interested in tabling, email us at ithacahousediy@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram (@ithacahousediy). We’ll likely have some readings and performances, too!
